| Publication regarding changes in voting rights according to Art. 21 SESTA |
Lonza Group AG, Muenchensteinerstrasse 38, 4002 Basel, announces that it has been informed on 20 and 21 October 2008 by UBS AG, Bahnhofstrasse 45, Postfach, 8098 Zurich, Switzerland, that (i) as of 14 October 2008 directly and indirectly through subsidiaries the threshold values of 3% and 5% of the participation in voting rights of Lonza Group AG were exceeded due to hedging transfers and securities lendings and (ii) as of 15 October 2008 the participation in voting rights of Lonza Group AG fell below the thresholds of 5% and 3%.
