| Publication regarding changes in voting rights according to Art. 21 SESTA (Post Publication of the Publication of 24 October 2008) |
Lonza Group AG, Muenchensteinerstrasse 38, 4002 Basel, announces that it has been informed on 20 and 21 October 2008 by UBS AG, Bahnhofstrasse 45, Postfach, 8098 Zürich, Switzerland, that (i) as of 14 October 2008 directly and indirectly through subsidiaries the threshold of 3% and 5% of the participation in voting rights of Lonza Group AG were exceeded due to chattel mortgages and securities lendings and it held in total 3'095'960 (6.14%) in voting rights of Lonza Group AG, namely 2'756’160 (5,47%) registered shares with a nominal value of CHF 1.- and 318’218 call options (= 339’800 voting rights or 0,67%) and further a total of 0,52% from put options (1877 selling rights or 0,27% and 1’264’686 granted purchasing rights or 0,25%) and that (ii) as of 15 October 2008 the voting rights of Lonza Group AG fell below the threshold of 5% and 3%. Regarding the publication of 21 October 2008 UBS AG exercized the right of exception according to Art. 16a BEHV-EBK. Based on a recommendation of the Publication Department of SIX Swiss Exchange as of 29 October 2008 we inform, that each interested individual may receive within two exchange days a free delivery of the unpublished details from Lonza Group AG, Legal, Muenchensteinerstrasse 38, 4002 Basel (legalbasel@lonza.com; Tel. 061 / 316 81 11).
