1. What is your current role at Lonza My name is Jeff Xuan, the customer service supervisor of LSIM China located in Guangzhou.
2. What change has Lonza made over the years which you think has made the most positive impact? My response is that, in the past years or so I saw many new professionals from different backgrounds joined the Sales and R&D department of LSIM China. These new members brought with them solid knowledge and experience from different work cultures which would help to strengthen our capability in sales, marketing, new product development and technical service. This makes me feel very confident that LSIM China will have a prosperous future.
I’ve worked for Lonza for seven years and in the past LSIM China was just considered a raw material supplier. Now we have the ability to become a solution provider as well. It is exciting and also interesting to see our business extend to new areas although these areas are not too far from our current business. While our old business is facing a bottleneck, new business opportunities in new areas bring us a positive outlook for the future and of course this enhances our personal career goals as well. I feel there are many good opportunities for everyone in Lonza.
In China there is a saying “crossing the river by feeling the stones”. I think this is what we are doing now. We have already had a clear direction but we still need to feel the stones to find the road to reach it. Finally, I wish to see a broad bridge over these stones in years to come.

5. Please tell me about an amazing experience you have had at Lonza. When I joined Lonza in 2006 I was afforded the “opportunity” (at least that’s what my boss called it) to staff numerous open positions within the Technical Services group. Recently we filled the final open position, and it has been a great experience to see the group grow and develop into a world-class Technical Service department. In fact, I will admit that I was very proud when a member of upper management recently told me that this was one of the most well-rounded, technically savvy Technical Service groups he had seen at Lonza in quite some time!
6. What is your motto? Doing a common thing uncommonly well brings success.
