1. What is your current role at Lonza? I am a Technical Services Manager. Our department is responsible for working directly with customers to solve complex technical issues and questions with respect to the utilization of Lonza Bioscience (LBS) products. In addition, we develop technical literature, track product complaints, and facilitate sales representative and distributor product training.
2. Why do you like working at Lonza? I enjoy the fast-paced environment of a large company and the opportunity to interact with Marketing, Sales, QC, QA and R&D in an effort to constantly improve our product offerings and performance.
3. What are some perks about working at Lonza (specific regional benefits)? Advantages to working at Lonza in Walkersville, Maryland, include its small town location, diversity of career opportunities and excellent compensation benefits.
4. What makes Lonza unique? Lonza combines the atmosphere of a small, family business with powerful personnel and financial and technical resources to make it a truly distinctive biotech company.
5. Please tell me about an amazing experience you have had at Lonza. When I joined Lonza in 2006 I was afforded the “opportunity” (at least that’s what my boss called it) to staff numerous open positions within the Technical Services group. Recently we filled the final open position, and it has been a great experience to see the group grow and develop into a world-class Technical Service department. In fact, I will admit that I was very proud when a member of upper management recently told me that this was one of the most well-rounded, technically savvy Technical Service groups he had seen at Lonza in quite some time!
6. What is your motto? Doing a common thing uncommonly well brings success.

1. What is your current role at Lonza? Please describe your working tasks. Since 2004, I have been Product Manager in the business unit Lonza Life Science Ingredients – Performance Ingredients (LSIP). I am mainly responsible for the group marketing of HCN Derivatives. I coordinate the global product process, beginning at the development and ending at the delivering of our HCN Derivatives. We sell our products to pharmaceutical and industrial customers. My job contains budgeting, sales planning and staying in daily contact with our various customers. I spend 25-30 % of my working time on business travel.
2. What is your track record? I started my career as a laboratory technician, completed a degree in business, studied to become marketing planner, and then started working in Marketing & Sales. I worked for different companies but always stayed in the chemical business. I am fascinated by these products, and I like to sell them. I plan to continue working in Marketing & Sales for the next years.
3. What are some perks about working at Lonza (specific regional benefits)? Lonza is quite well-known and delivers on its positive objectives and values. I love the broad application possibilities of the product I sell. HCN Derivatives are used for pharmaceutical purposes such as antibiotics and by industrial customers to produce dyestuffs, for example.
4. What makes Lonza unique? I think we are, in our thinking and actions, more diversified and flexible than other companies. We can decide quicker and can arrange things on short notice, whereas others might take months.
5. Which was your most amazing experience? A customer from England ordered a very expensive product. Some days after, that he wanted more of this specific product. On the phone I was able to immediately guarantee that within two days we would deliver again. He was very surprised and glad that he would receive this product so quickly and without any trouble. I like it to be able to satisfy our customers.
