1. What is your current role at Lonza? Currently I am working as a technical project leader. I am responsible for the costs and deadlines of investment projects. The starting point is defining the process, together with the process development, followed by an estimation of investment costs. After credit approval, I am responsible for the technical realization until the handover to the users in the production.
2. Why do you like working at Lonza? As a technical project leader I am working with lots of other departments during a realization project. The interdisciplinary character of my work is challenging.
3. What are some perks about working at Lonza (specific regional benefits)? As Visp, Switzerland, is situated almost in the center of the Alps, the region is full of natural attractions. That makes it a very unique place to work. 4. What did you do prior to joining Lonza? I did a diploma in “chemical engineering” at the University of Erlangen Nürnberg in Germany. I continued with a Ph.D. thesis at ETH in Lausanne (EPFL) and started to work in process development for CIBA Speciality Chemicals. After this job, I started my Lonza career in the area of engineering for the sector Life Science Ingredients (LSI).
5. Why is Lonza an attractive employer for engineering? The large variety of chemical processes offers a wide range of applications for chemical engineering know-how. From process simulation to the design of specific machinery in cooperation with manufacturers, there are many fields where process knowledge in combination with practical engineering skills is necessary.
